Forward AM, a BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH company, in partnership with IAM3DHUB, International Advanced Manufacturing 3D Hub, is hosting the Forward AM Innovation Award 2022 for startups using additive manufacturing for applications with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and scalability. The ‘Gold Sponsors’ for the award include HP, Photocentric, Sculpteo, and Stratasys.
IAM3DHUB is an industrial consortium composed of several companies from the additive manufacturing value chain, such as technology providers, material manufacturers, software developers, and post-processing solutions providers. IAM3DHUB’s goal is to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing technologies within the industry through a one-stop shop – to guide and advise companies in their additive manufacturing transformation.
The award for the best additive manufacturing application is a Grand Prize of €50,000, and the best sustainable 3D printing application will be awarded €15,000. €15,000 will also be given to the winner of the People’s Award. In addition to these awards, each finalist will receive €10,000. All funding will be redeemed at the IAM3DHUB.
Winners will also be connected with leading investors, industry experts, and fellow entrepreneurs, and will become part of the global additive manufacturing community where they will meet experts and mentors.
And will be given exposure in the form of an opportunity to pitch in front of a curated audience of renowned industry leaders and investors, and be noticed by international media (with interview opportunities).
Startups that create products using additive manufacturing (from dental aligners and shoes to automative parts and industrial tooling, and anything in between), are less than 5 years old, employ fewer than 50 people, and have proof of a registered company are eligible to apply. Spin-offs from universities and medium-size companies are eligible too.
2021 winners include Cosm Medical, a urogynecology company founded in Canada in 2017 that creates 3D printed silicone-based pessaries for women with pelvic floor issues such as incontinence and prolapse, a common global women’s health issue, Wyve, a company founded in France in 2019 that creates 3D printed surfboards from recycled plastics, and Syos, another company founded in France, in 2016, that creates 3D printed custom saxophone mouthpieces that enable musicians to shape their own unique sound.
The deadline for applications has been extended and is now open until August 17th, 2022.
The final Forward AM Innovation Award event will be held at DFactory, in Barcelona, on October 10th, 2022, where the four selected startups will pitch their businesses in front of a jury composed by the sponsors.
