Oleg Popov, founder and project manager for mass production of construction 3D printing company 3DPLODDER, co-founded the International Concern Construction Additive Robotic Systems, (CCARS International), located in Kyiv City, Ukraine. For more than six years, Popov has run the 3D Construction Printing (3DCP) Facebook community and has been paying close attention to the development of construction 3D printing technologies around the world. 3dpbm has known Mr. Popov and his passion, as well as his ongoing development efforts in the 3D construction printing segment for several years.
This information about the emergence of new projects in the 3DCP industry, and the results of their development, has served as the basis for an analysis of construction 3D printers as tools for implementing 3DCP technology. It has now been made available.
Learning to build
According to Popov, “Searching for an answer to the question ‘what is a construction 3D printer?’ will lead you to the conclusion that all devices known to you under this definition are essentially created on the basic principles used in robotics. Popov identified six base solutions, shown in the image below.
“There is no doubt that in these sketches – says Popov – most will recognize well-known brands working in the 3DCP direction. Each of these six types of devices has its advantages and disadvantages, and each has become a 3DCP tool having passed its own evolutionary path from a conventional robot, or a gantry crane, to a construction 3D printer.
An analysis of construction 3D printer brands shows some companies (ICON, ApisCor, SQ4D, and others) “create building 3D printers for themselves”, to offer services. Others (СOBOD, MudBots, BlackBuffalo, etc) “create construction 3D printers for their clients”, to sell machines.
In addition, each of these well-known manufacturers of 3D printers is focused on the production of devices of the same type. The result of the study focussed on the situation in the world market of 3DCP industry equipment is the creation of the International company Construction Additive Robotic Systems (CCARS International). CCARS International is the world’s first industry operator that combines the production and operation of construction 3D printers of the widest range.
Each of the produced brands does not compete against the others – they are able to interact and jointly solve problems within the same construction site or production area. Partnership and interaction, much more effective than competition and rivalry, is one of the principles implemented by CCARS International in its work.
СCARS International Construction, a subdivision of the concern focused on participating in the implementation of various construction projects using manufactured construction 3D printers and construction 3D printing technology. Now, one of the priority activities of CCARS International Construction, together with companies operating the construction 3D printing services market from the Czech Republic, Sweden, and Slovakia, is participation in the International Project for the Restoration of Ukraine.
The scale of destruction of the housing stock and infrastructure of Ukraine is already enormous and the war effort is far from over. It will take a lot of time and resources to recover. Innovative 3DCP technologies, using advanced equipment, can help solve this problem – saving time, money, and materials.
One of the primary goals of CCARS International is to open a plant for mass production of construction 3D printers, and a personnel training center in Ukraine. Followed by scaling up the business and opening 4 more plants around the world within 3-4 years. CCARS International is open to constructive dialogue, with all interested business entities, around attracting investments towards achieving its goals.
