Redwire announces Jacksonville, FL headquarters

In June 2020, 3D printing in space pioneer Made In Space (MIS) was acquired by newly formed Redwire, a specialist in mission critical space solutions. Just months after the strategic purchase, Redwire has now revealed where its headquarters will be based: Jacksonville, Florida. Non-coincidentally, the city of Jacksonville is also where Made In Space has its HQ and key operations.

“We are excited that Jacksonville will be the center of our innovation ecosystem as we continue to position Redwire as the leading developer of cutting-edge space technology and space infrastructure,” said Peter Cannito, Chairman and CEO of Redwire. “By strengthening our presence in Florida, we will have access to a skilled aerospace workforce, strategic partnerships and operational infrastructure to support our growth.”

Made In Space moved its own headquarters and satellite manufacturing operations to Jacksonville, Florida in early 2020 as part of a multi-year expansion plan. The move to a larger 20,000-square-foot facility initially created over 50 new jobs in the Florida city, with the potential for more. Redwire will utilize this existing infrastructure and plans to expand its operational footprint in the city further.

“Redwire is focused on delivering innovative space technology to support space exploration and national security priorities and Florida is uniquely positioned to provide the infrastructure to support the company’s growth,” said Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez, who welcomed the space company to Jacksonvile. “Today’s announcement is a testament to Florida’s leadership in supporting the nation’s aerospace industrial base by attracting innovative companies that are creating high-paying aerospace jobs and advancing space technology and space research.”

In addition to establishing its headquarters in Jacksonville, Redwire will continue its existing operations (through its acquisitions of Made In Space, Deep Space Systems and Adcole Space) in California, Colorado, Maryland and Massachusetts.
