Oerlikon AM and MT Aerospace are partnering to accelerate the use of additive parts in the aerospace and defense industries. The partnership aims to bring efficiency and cost savings to the aerospace and defense market by providing end-to-end solutions to customers.
The two companies’ combined expertise and technical capabilities intend to help address the industry’s most difficult and disruptive challenges, offering improved efficiency and safety at a lower cost. Especially in aerospace, where lightweight is a key issue and challenge, additively manufactured, digitized components due offer significant advantages compared to traditionally manufactured, injection molded or machined parts. Incorporating digitization in both air and space is enabling rapid new advances in the industry.
With this partnership, Oerlikon and MT Aerospace are positioning themselves as a key resource for aviation and space industry companies that intend to explore AM. By leveraging both MT Aerospace’s heritage in designing highly stressed and lightweight metal structures and Oerlikon’s materials, design, 3D printing, and post-processing capabilities, aerospace customers can seize a notable advantage by implementing synergies between construction/design, manufacturing, part inspection and qualification.
