Creaform releases portable 3D scanners Go!SCAN SPARK and HandySCAN BLACK

Creaform, a developer of portable 3D measurement solutions headquartered in Québec, has released two new portable 3D scanners.

The Go!SCAN SPARK and HandySCAN BLACK are the latest generation of the company’s professional-grade metrology systems. Simon Côté, Product Manager at Creaform, said:

“The work of product designers and engineering has greatly evolved over the past few decades. Today, product development teams are under increasing pressure to innovate more quickly, work with multidisciplinary, remote teams and launch products faster than ever before.”

“Go!SCAN SPARK generates quality 3D models, facilitates the design iteration process, mitigates errors and speeds up reverse engineering. [The] HandySCAN BLACK packs the benefits of its predecessors and further takes on quality assurance inspections where the customers need it.”

The Go!SCAN SPARK

Creaform has over 15 years of experience in developing measurement technologies as well as 3D engineering services. The company offers both portable and stationary scanning systems, i.e., the CUBE-R platform, intended for industries such as the automotive, aerospace, health care, and oil & gas.

As one of the latest additions to its portable range, the Go!SCAN SPARK is capable of fast 3D scanning and color acquisition as a result of its four inline cameras. This 3D scanner is also said to have two times greater accuracy from its predecessors with measurements of up to 0.050 mm.

The Go!SCAN 3D product line was first released by Creaform in 2012 and uses the company’s patented automatic positioning technology to calibrate the system. Côté added:

“Without a doubt, the new Go!SCAN SPARK is a key tool in designing products to maintain a leadership position in innovation and a manufacturer’s specific market sectors.”

The HandySCAN BLACK

The HandySCAN BLACK features improved optics with 11 blue laser crosses that collect up to 1,300,000 measurements per second. This is designed to reduce the time taken between acquisition and workable files.

Furthermore, the HandySCAN BLACK provides volumetric accuracy of 0.020 mm + 0.040 mm/m for more accurate and traceable measurements. Previous models of the HandySCAN have been certified by Airbus and applied to a variety of automotive projects including the restoration of this classic Ferrari.

Creaform recently defended its patented technology behind the 3D scanners from competitors in China who marketed similar devices. Both the Go!SCAN SPARK and the HandySCAN BLACK will make its European debut at the Control international trade fair in Stuttgart, Germany, next month.
