Nexa3D and BEGO introduce Varseo XL dental 3D printer at IDS 2019

Nexa3D, an additive manufacturing vendor backed by XponentialWorks, has announced the launch of the Varseo XL resin-based 3D printing system at IDS 2019 in Cologne, Germany.

The Varseo XL is the latest addition to a portfolio of 3D printers marketed and sold by BEGO, a provider of dental materials. It will be commercialised in the next 12 months and made available through BEGO’s reseller network.

Manufactured by Nexa3D, the Varseo XL is powered by the company’s Lubricant Sublayer Photo-curing (LSPc) technology. LSPc harnesses a uniform light source and ‘High Contrast’ (HC) mask to project 3D slices to the vat, before a self-lubricating membrane ensures a ‘no-stick zone’ between the part being printed and the vat. The company says the process can hit top speeds of 1 centimetre per minute in the Z axis, and with the Varseo XL’s large build volume, has the potential to have a big impact on dental lab production, producing parts in minutes rather than hours.

“We have been developing the [LSPc] technology for the last two and a half years thinking there could be a real opportunity to break not only the print speed barriers, but also do it at a size, volume and performance that could really be a game-changer for experienced practitioners,” Avi Reichental, founder and CEO, XponentialWorks, told TCT at Formnext 2018.

There is a growing demand in the dental industry for digital production solutions, and thus Nexa3D has partnered with BEGO to deliver its technology to dental professionals through an established distribution network. The Varseo XL has been designed to print with the full range of BEGO dental materials, which have been developed to enable the 3D printing of models, trays, permanent restorations, bridges, crowns and surgical guides. The machine is also equipped with cognitive software and integrated sensors, optimising performance by providing detailed predictive and prescriptive diagnostics and enabling continuous monitoring.

BEGO is showcasing the new machine at IDS between March 12th and March 16th.
